This book is NOT about increasing your conversions―yet these DotComSecrets will increase your conversions MORE than any headline tweak or split test you could ever hope to make.

If you are currently struggling with getting traffic to your website, or converting that traffic when it shows up, you may think you’ve got a traffic or conversion problem. In my experience, after working with thousands of businesses, I’ve found that’s rarely the case. Low traffic and weak conversion numbers are just symptoms of a much greater problem, a problem that’s a little harder to see (that’s the bad news), but a lot easier to fix (that’s the good news).

Recently, I had a chance to fly to San Diego to work with Drew Canole from FitLife.tv. He had built a following of 1.2 million followers on Facebook, but because of some changes at Facebook, his traffic had dropped by 90%. He was now spending $116 to sell a $97 product. He was no longer profitable.

Drew’s team called me because they wanted help with two things: traffic and conversions. I smiled because that’s why most people call me. They usually assume that I’m going to help them tweak a headline or change their ad targeting, and solve their problems. But I knew that, like most companies I work with, FitLife.tv’s problem wasn’t a traffic or conversion problem.

It rarely is.

More often than not, it’s a FUNNEL problem.

After listening to Drew and his team share with me all of their numbers, their pains and frustrations, and their ups and downs, I sat back in my chair and told them they were in luck.

“You don’t have a traffic or conversion problem,” I said.

“What are you talking about? Our traffic is down 90%, and we can’t break even converting our customers!” Drew said.

“The problem is you can’t spend enough to acquire a customer, and the way to fix that problem is to fix your sales funnel,” I replied calmly.

One of my mentors, Dan Kennedy, says, “Ultimately, the business that can spend the most to acquire a customer wins.”

The reason Drew’s business wasn’t making money was because he wasn’t able to spend enough to acquire a customer. If we fix his sales funnel so that instead of making $97 for every $116 he spends, he can start making two to three times as much money for each sale―and then the whole game changes. Suddenly, he can afford to buy more traffic from more places; he can outbid his competitors, and he can spend two to three times more than he is now, all while becoming exponentially more profitable.

So, what changes did we make to Drew’s business? How did we take a sales funnel that was losing money and transform it into a tool that allowed FitLife.tv to spend MORE money than its competitors, while gaining more traffic, more customers, and more sales? THAT is what this book is about.

This book will take you on a journey similar to the one I took Drew and his team on. It will help you understand how to structure your company’s products and services in a way that will allow you to make two to three times as much money from the same traffic that you’re getting now. And when you follow the steps, you’ll open the floodgates, allowing you to spend a lot more money to get a lot more new customers.

This book will also show you how to communicate with your customers in a way that makes them naturally want to ascend up your ladder of offerings and give you more money as you provide them more value.

Once you know the foundational concepts behind DotComSecrets, we’ll dive into the phases of a sales funnel and explore the building blocks you will need to use in each phase. Finally, I will give you the seven core sales funnels I use in all my companies, plus all of the sales scripts we use to convert people at each stage in those funnels. The Online Business Bible

Having had an online business since January 2003, I've read many, MANY books about online marketing, and have even purchased some of the big-ticket courses, such as Jeff Walker's "Product Launch Formula" and Mike Filsaime's "Butterfly Marketing". I've even had a chance to review Frank Kern's "Mass Control" and "List Control" products. Others I've learned from include Rich Schefren, Glenn Livingston, Todd Brown, Mark Joyner, Terry Dean, Yanik Silver, Jim Edwards, Willie Crawford, Jimmy D. Brown, Dan Kennedy, and the list goes on and on.

I can say, without a second's hesitation, that Russell Brunson's "DOTCOM Secrets" book trumps all of them.

This book has just the right mix of high-level strategy and low-level tactics to make it a solid playbook for anyone who wants to make their online business a profitable one, while operating with the highest degree of ethics and integrity. It has shown me where I have made many mistakes along the way, and as I implement the ideas, I'm finding that it's easier to attract the right customers who resonate with my materials, and help them see the value in owning my higher-end products.

The only downside to this book is that it doesn't address the technical side of things, and this means that a newbie will need to go elsewhere for the final implementation. The good news is that once you have implemented the information here, you won't have to rebuild everything again, because you'll have done it right the first time.

THIS IS AN UPSELL

FULL DISCLOSURE - THIS BOOK IS AN UPSELL however, the book and the theory are absolutely A1. Russ provides an amazing look into the world of building a company online and sellling products online. Throughout the book he is trying to upsell you on his programs, his coaching, etc. Good read but idk about the upsells

Just a 255 Page Sales Pitch!

The first part of the book explaining sales funnels and value ladders is great. However, then he starts explaining the AC (Attractive Character) and then later a "sales pitch" he tried on his wife to let him "go out the guys". My wife is not stupid. If i tried something like she would have seen it coming the proverbial mile away and laughed in my face. Towards the end of the book you will begin to feel like you are reading the transcript notes of "get rich quick" seminar and then you realize before even finishing the book that it is just one big sales pitch for his online marketing software at $300/month.

He is apparently not the first to make the attempt. Look at the reviews of other books "related" to this one. They are all the same. They end with a sales pitch to buy into their online software. (BTW, you can get this book for free on his website by just paying S&H). I guess he'll just take the money from poor saps like me that stumbled upon his book on Amazon. I should have known better with a quote from Tony Robbins on the back. Oh Well. Sorry Mr. Brunson, you are just an everyday scam artist. I would like to earn my money the honest way! Just my 2 cents...

Laurelyn Whitt is a Professor of Philosophy and Professor of Integrated Studies at Utah Valley University. Misty Copeland is a Principal Dancer at American Ballet Theatre, the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir Life in Motion, and the award-winning Children's book, Firebird. Decent Wholistic Approach, Needs More Pictures

Misty Copeland has an inspirational story arc. She has persevered through a number of setbacks and difficulties, and a background that was not considered ideal, to become a principal dancer in a prestigious ballet company. I bought this book because 1) I respect her story, and 2) I do a lot of playing around with my cardio because I get bored easily, so I've begun experimenting lately with dance cardio.

For me when it comes to fitness, primarily, I am a strength trainer, and I have a background in healthcare...those things shape my opinion of this book.

I really love that she talks a lot about the importance of loving the body you have, and accepting that it may not be able to look like or do the same things as somebody else, and yet deserves your love and care. I think she is spot on, hit it dead on the nail when she says the best way to have lasting changes to your lifestyle and to your fitness/health is to make gradual changes bit by bit that become part of your habits. Fast changes made too much too soon usually crash and burn, and yet I think because of the speed we've become accustomed to getting certain things in this society, people seem to expect that with diet and exercise. I had to loose some weight a few years ago as part of a health crisis of sorts, and it never fails to surprise me how many people ask me what I did and then loose interest when I say dietary changes and exercise. The truth is, if you loose more then 2 pounds a week, you're putting your liver under stress. You loose 4 pounds or more a week, you're actually damaging and killing liver cells. I have that straight from my GI Dr, who wanted to make good and sure I was clear on that since I was already being treated for medication induced liver damage. I was told it wasn't safe or recommended for a person with a healthy liver, but for me, it was even more important to go slow. So she's right...go slow. So those extreme weight loss shows that tend to be so popular are actually really doing the participants involved an incredible disservice just from the organ perspective alone, don't even get me started on the too restrictive calories with long days of working out.

Her nutrition portion...I didn't really have a problem with it, per se, and I do think she actually provides adequate guidance, and she's certainly right that studies have emerged within the last few years that implicate sugar as having a much higher risk for heart disease then fat. Very true. My fellow shoppers, sugar is not your friend on a whole lot of levels. I did estimate the calories on her perfect day meal (the one she considers a perfect day for herself) and it came in at about 1464 calories. So. What you have to remember here is that she's dancing and in effect exercising about 8 hours a day. So you can eat that number of calories, and not necessarily see the same results she does. Because looking lean is about your body fat composition more then anything else. And yet, I wouldn't recommend you go any lower, because you need to make sure you don't dip below your base metabolic rate, which is the number of calories you burn each day just to stay alive. Locate a BMR calculator on-line to figure out what yours is, and in order to best protect your health and metabolism, don't go below it, even if you're trying to loose weight.

Where I did feel like this book is lacking is in pictures for the exercises. There aren't adequate pictures for the exercises she gives. Some of them have none, and I think, especially if you don't have a background in dance, the worded explanation on some of them may leave you confused and unsure what to do. I also feel that the number of exercises given probably aren't going to produce the same results she's got, unless you're doing a few hours worth of them. And actually, really, I'm pretty sure just doing the ones included in this book alone isn't going to provide the deltoids (shoulder muscles) she's got visible in her pictures…

I also feel like promising anybody a willowy, lean dancer's body is a slippery slope. Some people's bodies don't do willowy. Mine sure as heck doesn't, not when I was in gymnastics, not when I was underweight, not when I was jogging, or trying pilates or yoga...you get the idea. I spent a number of years trying to pursue willowy, and it never happened for me. My body is built well for one thing apparently...short, bulky looking muscles, and it doesn't matter what I do, that's where I end up. Right now, I strength train pretty aggressively, because I have an amazing special needs son, and being the best mom I can be to him pretty much requires every muscle my body can come up with. This is the first time in my life I've ever been grateful for that. My point is...your genetics have a huge roll to play in whether or not your body can look the way Misty's does. So I think all of the sections in this book where she talks about focusing on overall health and vitality as your goal...those are the ones worth reading and setting your heart on. Because maybe you're blessed you can be willowy, maybe you're not. But improvements in health and fitness levels are pretty much attainable by most anyone.

I did do the floor barre exercises she was recommending this morning, and I've got to tell you. I found it relaxing as heck. And several of the poses are very akin to yoga. But I don't think for me, personally, that floor barre provides what I need, but it could be a great place to start if you haven't been exercising in a while.

Overall, I thing this is a book that has more merits then not. I love that she strives for an overall balance in healthy living where she involves pieces on stress management, diet, finding social relationships with people you aspire to be like, fitness, and food. I think there's a lot of value here, especially for someone who's not been exercising. If you have a higher fitness level, I think, unfortunately, you're probably going to need to look elsewhere.

This a great book written in a very down to earth and "I've been there" point of view. The ballet exercises are ones I have done many times and am not inclined to do on the floor, but the text and recipes were helpful to me. This woman is completely inspiring.

One of the worst books in this genre

This book is not as it is advertised. It seems to be a companion piece to having personal "DRES" consultant. In reading the book, it would often appear that the text was about to offer a good tip or advice, but the reader would be invited to "talk with your personal DRES consultant" to follow up on the topic at hand.

It is also an edited book, with different chapters written by different authors. The result is an inconsistent collection of writings, some of which cover the same topics.

Another concrete, but telling criticism of the book is that there are no pictures or photos. How can you teach people a system for dressing, for flattering body types, for combining colors, etc., if there are no illustrations? The answer is that you don't--as I mentioned before, the book attempts to be just one big sell for hiring one of their consultants.

Beyond the basics!

Every fashion magazine gives you the same tips about how to apply makeup, tweeze your brows, etc. The chapter on makeup ("Magic and Mystery) goes beyond the same old stuff! Azevedo talks not just about using the color wheel to pick your colors, but paying attention to the undertones in colors in order to find a tone that actually works for you. And she does it in a funny, personable way. You feel like your listening to your big sister teach you how to wear makeup.

But the best part for me was learning about how to apply eye makeup based on the shape and set of my eyes; gone are the days of the one-size-fits-all strategy! For instance, since I have wide-set eyes (which I didn't know until I read this chapter), I should be applying my darker shadow to my inner eye area, whereas all these years I've been applying it to the outer area! There are just so many great, well explained tips. You'll find yourself looking in the mirror and observing your face while reading it. Great mother/daughter book!

Good Starting Point

I like this book. It was a big help for me to get started with Weblogic Workshop. I found it to be organized pretty well and the information extremely helpful.
I would recommend this book to someone that wanted to get started quickly with Workshop. But one problem is by the time I got this book and created Web Services with 7.0 then Weblogic 8.1 hit the market.
Also, the BEA documentation is very good and I could have probably gotten by using their resources. However, the amount of documentation and detail is overwhelming. I found this book helpful as well as an excellent starting point for WebServices and Workshop.

good book for starters

I have read this book and find that it is a good book if you want to get started with Web services on BEA Weblogic workshop. The starting chapters are good and they really work in Workshop but the ending chapters have lost focus and become very theoretical. If the authors can work the last chapters so that they provide more hands on knowledge to devlopers, it would be great...

Worth the Money

If you want to learn Workshop, buy this book! By the end of the book you will be flying thru the tool.
The early chapters go easy and introduce the development environment. This is extremely well written.
And the examples in the early chapters work! You can easily create the web services yourself.
The later chapters loose focus on examples and more just explain how to do the task using workshop. And then the final chapter, "An Online Ordering System", seems to be written by an alein; the one web services does not work and will not work the way it is declared, one of the jave files is missing completely from the text but is provided on the CD. This is the reason for only four stars.
And then when you go to SAMSPUBLISHING web site, they have lost the book completely.
