I read this book in Danish.

The author, Helen Hadsell, has won everything she ever wanted - cars, a trip to Hawaii, money and a microwave oven (why she would want such a dangerous thing as a microwave is beyond me, but everyone to their taste).

In the US there are apparently all sorts of competitions one can take part in. I've never noticed any in Denmark where I live and am not really interested in writing slogans for various firms, such as Coca-Cola and the like, but I'm sure many are.

What attracted me to Helen's book was her belief in the power of positive thinking.

She found out that winners of such competitions all had the following in common:

1) They decided what they wanted.
2) They imagined they had it.
3) They KNEW they would get it.

This is important information.

Helen was a Silva Mind graduate, which gave her a good basic understanding and knowledge of spiritual principles to help her with her various winning projects.

In this book, she tells us about various competitions she and her family participated in - what they did, and what they won.

Helen also provides us with lots of practical advice about what to do to win the various competitions. She often sent in up to fifty coupons for a specific competition, if the prize was particularly attractive. She impresses on us the importance of precisely following the rules and regulations of the firm offering the competition.

I see this book is at present enormously expensive on Amazon – I bought it as a paperback (in Danish) years ago. But if you can get hold of the book at a reasonable price and love competitions, I recommend that you get it.

The author is a famous contest winner who used the creative power of intention and positive thinking to win her prizes. She won things from dozens of trips to a new house to lots of cash. Her story is a must-read!

La despedida de los Dursley es bien llevada, sin mucho detalle insignificante, muy al grano. Otro punto curioso del libro es que nombra a casi todos los personajes de los anteores, si la memoria no me falla tan solo Gildroy Lockhart, Mirtle La LLorona y Madame Maxime son los no nombrados. Si bien es cierto a muchos de ellos era para tan solo decir: alli estaba Cho sentada.

Tiene sus puntos negativos, entre ellos: demasiadas muertes,algunas innecesarias y sin sentido a la trama. Existe una laguna con Dolores Umbridge, ya que en el sexto libro estaba en San Mugo y en este libro aparece con un alto cargo en el ministerio de magia!!!!!!!! como se recupero???, no menciona nada al respecto. Tambien recuerda al se�or de los anillos en uno de sus pasajes cuando habla de que el cargar un Horrocrux en el cuello le producia una sensacion de pesades, desanimo y mal genio a quien lo portara (Ron, Harry y Hermione), lo cual por lo menos a mi me parecio chocante.

Como comentario final, el lirbo tiene un epilogo (no se titula asi), pero deja un buen sabor de boca y sobre todo el penultimo parrafo no deja de sorprenderte.

El inicio es tal vez un poco lento, pero despues de la mitad del libro, definitivamente se mueve a un paso que no deja espacio para aburrirse. Todas los peque�os detalles que en algun momento no parecian tener mucha importancia, aqui te muestra el por que debiste prestarle atencion. Si es que eres fan de la serie, algunos detalles quiza te dejen un tanto incredulo en cuanto a como es posible que hayan llegado a tener tal importancia y las sorpresas de la batalla final aun me tienen un tanto sorprendido (quienes menos te lo hubieses imaginado no terminan de manera feliz). Pero a pesar de los altibajos y de lo doloroso de algunas despedidas, este libro es una gran muestra de como cerrar una historia. Me quito el sombrero ante do�a Rowling.

Me encanta este libro. Tengo toda la colecci�n pero este es el que m�s me gusto. Es muy interesante la historia y apesar de lo extenso que es me quede con ganas de mas.... La verdad no se compara para nada con la pel�cula es mucho m�s interesante leerlo y imaginarlo x ti mismo. Se los recomiendo ampliamente este y cada uno de la Zaga.

There are more juicy confessions and outrageously funny observations packed in these honest pages than most celebrity bios twice the length. After describing how she underwent electroshock therapy for her manic depression, Fisher then sorts through her life as her memories return. She predicts that by the end of the book, you'll feel so close to me that you'll want to divorce me. At one point, this daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher (one an icon, the other an arm piece to icons) hilariously diagrams her family tree of Hollywood marriages and remarriages to make sure her daughter's potential date is not a relative. Revealing that at 15 she got a vibrator for Christmas from her mother, she writes, You might be thinking that a lot of the stories I'm telling you are over the top... but you can't imagine what I'm leaving out. With acerbic precision and brash humor, she writes of struggling with and enjoying aspects of her alcoholism, drug addiction and mental breakdowns. Her razor-sharp observations about celebrity, addiction and sexuality demand to be read aloud to friends. (Dec.)

Wishful Drinking - the Stand Up Routine

Being a big fan or Carrie's books and admiring how she could survive such a Hollywood upbringing, I really looked forward to this new book. While there are moments of hilarity, it really reads better if you imagine her standing up in front of an audience doing this as a cross between a stand up routine and a semi biography. As a book it just is not on the same caliber as her previous efforts. But i was able to get through it by picturing her reading this live and laughing along with the audience. It is witty and funny in places but more properly belongs as it started - a stand up show or audio book. I applaud her survival and honesty about her addictions and bipolar disorder, but this is better as an interview than a book.

Hilariously awesome

Even though I'm sure her one-woman show is funnier, Carrie Fisher's wit and humor definitely come across in this book. There's no plot, and little chronology, but it comes across the same as it would on stage. Just an iconic and kinda crazy woman, rambling on about her strange and interesting life. Any fans of Fisher or Star Wars would love it, and I think people who don't fit one of those categories would at least be amused by it. It's a quick read, with large print and pictures!

This book is best as the unabridged audiobook read by the author herself! Much like David Sedaris, the only person that can fully convey the emotional impact and placement of emphasis in their experiences, is the author themselves. After listening to this three hour conversation with Carrie, as she does ask rhetorical questions of her reader/audiences, I wondered why she has not reached the level of gay icon status as Cher or Liza. The woman smoked Harrison Ford's dope, she turns men bald and gay, was the daughter of a gay icon (which gives you 10 points automatically), and has her fair share of True Hollywood Story moments - I mean come on! Has your mother given you a vibrator for Christmas, no? Only Carrie? Find out she ended up with a dead gay Republican in her bed...as one does and several other intriguing stories! A new tour of the one woman show also titled "Wishful Drinking" is being planned for 2009, so if you like Margaret Cho, Sarah Silverman, and Kathy Griffin and want to go a bit old school Enquirer - than make it a point to see her live!
