About the Author
Charles Krebs is Professor of Zoology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and has been teaching for 40 years. He received his B.S. from the University of Minnesota and earned both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. In addition to teaching ecology, he has worked extensively on the population of rodents in Northern Canada, the United States, and Australia, trying to understand the mechanisms behind population fluctuations. He has published three ecology textbooks including Ecology: The Experimental Analysis of Distribution and Abundance, Fifth Edition and Ecological Methodology, Second Edition both published by Benjamin Cummings.

Scarily good

As a layperson with next-to-no knowledge of the subject, nor any maths, algebra or statistics, I thought I'd have a lot of trouble with this book.
And yes, I did have some trouble, and yes, I would really have liked to have had a tutor and classmates to help me through the exercises.
But even so I got a great deal from it, it has lead me to read scientific papers, it has prompted me to investigate higher education possibilities - and it has made me extremely grateful for scientists!

it's fine if you have to read it

I would never, ever read a book like this one just for fun. But I had to read this for a management course. I can say that it was an easy read and actually had some funny parts that had me laughing to myself. And most importantly, I read this book and passed my course. So five stars for that!

I bought this textbook for my Wildlife ecology course at Humboldt State University. It was a very easy read and it complemented the course very well. Great book that I kept it instead of selling it back!
